From 1948 the Esson family was running a very successful sporting supply and manufacturing company. They made goods such as tennis rackets, soccer nets, footballs etc… for well-known brands such as Dunlop and Slazenger and their products could be found all over the world.

Then in 1967 tragedy struck - good friends lost their little boy in a drowning incident during a family get-together – everyone was there but nobody noticed the child fall in the pool and his death was horrifyingly silent.

Blair Esson - CEO and innovator of the pool safety nets was shocked to think that he had been enjoying himself while the child was gasping for life. Blair’s own children, 1 and 7 years old at the time, made him determined to throw every effort into finding a way to ensure the safety of his own and friends swimming pools so this devastation wouldn’t happen to other families - the first swimming pool safety net was born. He called it Katchakid.

Blair Esson used all of his expertise and knowledge from his background in sports equipment manufacturing and development into creating a swimming pool net that was aesthetic, easy to operate but at all times extremely efficient.

Over the past 3 decades the Katchakid has been re-evaluated, re-defined and modified to bring you today the very best in terms of child pool safety.

In the new millennium the Katchakid leads the industry it created and is at the forefront of swimming pool protection worldwide, relied upon by parents, schools and communities in four continents.
